At this point, parents, staff and pupils should follow the guidance, in particular, the need to practise good hand hygiene among staff and pupils.
As referred to in the PHA guidance, like seasonal flu, if you cough or sneeze, use a tissue to cover your mouth and nose, throw it away carefully after use, and wash your hands.

Congratulations to the Martin family for the excellent fundraiser which raised almost £4,000 for two important charities. We had a non-uniform Day on 14th February to help raise funds for the Meningitis Research Foundation and for SWAH Children’s Ward by donating to the Starlight Foundation.
Rian and Matthew Martin who lead this fundraiser as their younger brother had HIF bacterial meningitis Oct 2018, presented a powerful speech to the children about how they became aware of their brother's illness and how we all should be vigilant. He had been seriously ill but thankfully has made a full recovery. Children in the school donated almost £400.00 to support this fundraiser.
Congratulations to our Eco Council members who gave a brilliant assembly this morning on how we can all help look after our environment.
They talked about the importance of looking after the local environment as well as being mindful of the choices which we all can make to ensure that we hand on a better world for our children. They used inspiration from Pope Francis to encourage everyone to make a special effort to recycle, reuse and reduce.

BOYS’ INDOOR FOOTBALL HEAT 4: OMAGH
Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Thír Eoghain held the fourth Heat of its annual Boys’ Indoor Football 5-a-side competition in Omagh’s Station Centre. A total of eight schools competed in another action-packed day of tremendous football providing thrills and skills to a high degree.
Teachers helped draw the teams into two groups of 4. Section ‘A’ featured St. Colmcille’s P.S. Carrickmore; St. Catherine’s P.S. Strabane; St. Mary’s P.S. Strabane and St. Dympna’s P.S. Dromore. The lads from Strabane played tremendously throughout but they just missed out on progression despite their worthy efforts. Instead, Carrickmore topped the section with 3 wins from 3 followed by runners-up Dromore picking up a brace of wins. Both of these schools, therefore, secured a semi-final place.
Section ‘B’ comprised St. Conor’s P.S. Omagh; St. Patrick’s P.S. Castlederg; St. Patrick’s P.S. Newtownstewart and Holy Family P.S. Omagh. St. Conor’s topped the section with a couple of wins, and they were joined in the semi-finals by group runners-up Holy Family P.S. (after a tense 2-1 play-off win over a classy Newtownstewart). Castlederg played some great stuff but just came up short on progressing by a single point.
We were now ready for the semi-finals. A talented Holy Family P.S. Omagh took on Carrickmore in an excellent game. Carmen, however, prevailed 3-1 to earn their place in the heat final whilst maintaining their 100% record.
A battling St. Conor’s pushed St. Dympna’s all the way before the Omagh lads fell to a 3-1 reverse. Holy Family and St. Conor’s both deserve enormous credit.
Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Thír Eoghain held the fourth Heat of its annual Boys’ Indoor Football 5-a-side competition in Omagh’s Station Centre. They now proudly advance to the Tyrone Co. Finals to be held in March.
We wish them well. Ádh mór oraibh!
As Mrs Hendry, Mr O’Neill’s and Miss Owens children are currently participating in Mandarin classes, we are celebrating the Chinese New Year which commences on Saturday 25th January (the year of the rat).
The children took part in a poster competition to celebrate this event and Keeva McCullagh’s (P3) poster was highly commended from 4,000 entries and she was invited with her family to a Chinese New Year Celebration at the Waterfront Hall and was also invited to a special award ceremony in Omagh South West College. Well done Keeva.

As you are aware, the school has been over-subscribed in recent years and the school trustees and governors had requested that the Department of education increase admissions and enrolment numbers in our school.
Following lengthy deliberations as part of the Development Proposal consultation process, we are delighted that the Department has approved the proposal to increase our P1/R1 admission number to 55 and our enrolment number to 385 from 1st September 2020. This is excellent news as the approval recognises that the school is popular and growing and that an additional classroom will be required.
Following positive feedback in our recent survey, we will be piloting our Breakfast Club each morning from 7.45 am until 8.45 am from Tuesday 7 to Friday 17 January for children Year 1-7. At 8.45 am, the children will go to the assembly hall.
The arrangements for this pilot are as follows:
We will monitor the demand for the service over this period and if viable will offer the service from Monday 20th January at a cost of £2.00 per session.
