Maths Week 2018
This year, Maths Week ran from 13th – 21st October and each class in St. Colmcille’s P.S took part by completing ‘money’ themed activities.
Foundation Stage children made ‘money men’ and found their totals, they exchanged goods for money at the shop and created colourful pictures using coins.
KS1 children created their own tally charts based on coins from 1p up to £2, they discussed equivalence of coins and they found money totals.
KS2 children took part in a maths trail, calculated the cost of a party and worked on the addition and subtraction of money using decimal notation They learned all about budgets and statements of accounts and took part in a carousel style STEAM project.
All work was collated and displayed in our school hall to show the progression of learning between each class.
